African Philosophies of Education Re-imagined Looking Beyond Postmodernism

Author: Yusef Waghid  Publisher: © Philosophy of Education society of australasia  Published: March 17, 2018  Pages: 3  Country: South Africa  Language: English  View
 Description:

If ‘the ends of postmodernism’ are endemic to Western culture as aptly articulated by Michael A. Peters (2008) then what a postmodernistic take on Western culture(s) triggered has been a ‘return’ to/or a reconsideration (re-imagination) of what can be conceived as non-Western, more specifically indigenous forms of educational discourses. In a different way, ‘the end’ of postmodernism accentuated a more prominent re-beginning of educational discourses of a non-Western kind, such as, for instance, the renewal of African philosophies of education.
