Stylistics has been a source of interest to me since writing my MA thesis on the language of Janet Frame, a New Zealand author. So when choosing a topic for my PhD thesis, corpus stylistics was my immediate choice, and I decided to look at Jane Austen’s novels to see whether using corpus linguistic techniques in the analysis of literature could give new insight into already thoroughly analysed texts.
